Verizon Fios
Fiber · 300–5,000 Mbps
Verizon Fios is a fiber-to-the-home network built across the Northeast and the Mid-Atlantic, from Virginia up through New England. Plans run from 300 Mbps to 5 Gbps, carry no data cap and need no annual contract, and every tier includes the router at no extra monthly charge. Verizon attaches a multi-year price guarantee to each tier — three years on the lower speeds, five years on 2 Gig and 5 Gig — so the rate is fixed for that term rather than stepping up after a short intro period.

Verizon Fios: common questions
Does Verizon Fios require a contract?
No. Fios internet is sold without an annual contract, so there is no early-termination fee if you cancel. The price guarantee that comes with each plan is a commitment from Verizon to hold the rate, not a commitment from you to stay.
Is there a data cap on Fios?
No. Verizon does not apply a data allowance to Fios internet plans, so streaming, gaming and large downloads are not metered. This applies across every speed tier.
Do I have to pay to rent a router?
No. Verizon includes the Fios router with the plan rather than charging a separate monthly equipment fee. If you prefer your own hardware you can supply it, though Verizon supports its own router.
What happens to my bill after the price guarantee ends?
The guarantee holds your monthly rate for three years on the 300 Mbps, 500 Mbps and 1 Gig plans, and five years on 2 Gig and 5 Gig. Once that term is up the price can change to whatever Verizon is charging at the time, so it is worth checking the offer again near the end of the term.
Can I get Fios at my address?
Only if Verizon has run fiber to your building, and that varies street by street even inside its service area. Fios covers much of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, but coverage is not continuous across those states — enter your address on Verizon's site to check.
Are the advertised prices what I actually pay?
The advertised rates assume you enroll in Auto Pay and paper-free billing; without both, the monthly price is higher. Verizon describes the Fios rate as all-in, meaning taxes and fees are already included in the figure quoted.

Strengths and trade-offs
What they do well
- Fiber upload speeds are close to download speeds on the gigabit tiers
- No data cap and no annual contract on any Fios plan
- Router is included rather than billed as a monthly rental
- Each tier carries a three- or five-year price guarantee
- Verizon quotes the rate as all-in, with taxes and fees included
Worth knowing
- Available only where Fios fiber has been built — largely the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic
- Every advertised rate assumes Auto Pay and paper-free billing
- A $99 professional setup charge applies unless an offer waives it
- The rate rises once the price guarantee term ends
- The lowest advertised prices often depend on also having Verizon mobile service

About this data: Coverage and speed figures come from the FCC National Broadband Map, as of December 2025, where providers self-report. Advertised speeds are maximums, not guarantees, and availability differs address by address. The FCC publishes no pricing at all, so every price here was taken from a rate the provider advertised publicly, last checked September 2026. Several providers quote only after an address check, and rates move constantly — treat these as a guide and confirm the figure for your own address before you order.
