T-Mobile 5G Home Internet

T-Mobile 5G Home Internet

Fixed wireless · 170–498 Mbps

T-Mobile 5G Home Internet is a fixed wireless service that reaches the house over T-Mobile's 5G network rather than a wire. T-Mobile quotes typical download speeds of 170–354 Mbps on the entry plan and 170–498 Mbps on the mid tier, with uploads of 12–55 Mbps; what an individual address gets depends on signal from the nearest tower. All three plans include unlimited data, a gateway at no extra charge and no annual contract, and a $35 device connection charge applies at setup.

T-Mobile 5G Home Internet: common questions

What speed will I actually get?

T-Mobile quotes typical downloads of 170–354 Mbps on Rely and 170–498 Mbps on Amplified, with uploads of 12–55 Mbps. Because the signal arrives over the air, the result at your address depends on distance from the tower, obstructions and how many people are using that tower at the time.

Is the data really unlimited?

There is no hard cap and no overage charge. T-Mobile does state that during network congestion these lines may run slower than other customers' traffic, and that a further reduction applies once a line passes 1.2 TB in a month.

Does it work for gaming and video calls?

Video calls are generally workable at these speeds, and the upload range of 12–55 Mbps is enough for a normal call. Fixed wireless latency is higher and less consistent than fiber or cable, so competitive gaming is the use case most likely to notice the difference.

What does it cost to start?

The gateway is included in the monthly price, but a $35 device connection charge applies when service begins. There is no installation appointment — you place the gateway yourself and position it for the best signal.

Can I lower the monthly price?

Yes. Pairing home internet with a T-Mobile voice line drops the rate by $15 a month on each plan, bringing Rely to $35, Amplified to $45 and All-In to $55. AutoPay is required for the advertised price either way.

Is it available everywhere T-Mobile has service?

No. T-Mobile sells home internet only where it judges there is spare capacity on the local tower, so two neighbouring addresses can get different answers. The address check on T-Mobile's site is the only reliable test.

Strengths and trade-offs

What they do well

  • No annual contract and unlimited data on every plan
  • 5G Gateway included at no additional charge, with Wi-Fi 7 hardware on the two higher plans
  • Self-setup — no technician visit or wiring work
  • Available at many addresses that have no cable or fiber option
  • Bundling a T-Mobile voice line cuts $15 off the monthly rate on each plan

Worth knowing

  • Speed depends on signal and tower load, so the quoted range is not a guarantee for any given address
  • During congestion these lines can be slowed relative to other T-Mobile traffic, with further reduction above 1.2 TB in a month
  • Uploads of 12–55 Mbps are well below what fiber delivers
  • A $35 device connection charge applies when service starts
  • The advertised rates require AutoPay from a bank account or debit card

About this data: Coverage and speed figures come from the FCC National Broadband Map, as of December 2025, where providers self-report. Advertised speeds are maximums, not guarantees, and availability differs address by address. The FCC publishes no pricing at all, so every price here was taken from a rate the provider advertised publicly, last checked September 2026. Several providers quote only after an address check, and rates move constantly — treat these as a guide and confirm the figure for your own address before you order.
