Quantum Fiber: common questions

Is Quantum Fiber the same as CenturyLink?

They are the same company, sold under two names. Quantum Fiber is the fiber-to-the-home brand; CenturyLink continues to serve copper addresses. Which one you can order depends on what has been built on your street.

Will the price go up?

Yes, on the tiers where a standard rate is published. Quantum Fiber lists $80 a month as the standard rate on the 1 Gig plan, $100 on 2 Gig and $105 on 3 Gig, against promotional rates well below those. The company does not publish how many months the promotional rate lasts.

Is there a data cap?

No. Quantum Fiber states that all of its plans include unlimited data, with no overage charges.

Do I have to rent a router?

No. Quantum Fiber includes its 360 WiFi equipment at no additional cost on its plans, so there is no separate monthly equipment line to budget for.

Are uploads as fast as downloads?

Quantum Fiber advertises equal upload and download speeds on most of its lineup, and explicitly lists the 500 Mbps and 1 Gig plans that way. Its own material carves the 2 Gig plan out of that claim, so check the figure for the specific tier you are ordering.

What does installation cost?

Technician installation is included at eligible locations. If your address needs construction work and the cost runs past $1,500, Quantum Fiber states that the customer is responsible for the excess.

  • Equal upload and download speeds on the plans Quantum Fiber publishes them for
  • Unlimited data on every tier
  • No annual contract
  • 360 WiFi equipment included at no additional cost

  • The lowest discount tier requires autopay from a bank account, not a card
  • Paperless billing is required for the promotional pricing
  • Construction charges above $1,500 are passed to the customer

About this data: Coverage and speed figures come from the FCC National Broadband Map, as of December 2025, where providers self-report. Advertised speeds are maximums, not guarantees, and availability differs address by address. The FCC publishes no pricing at all, so every price here was taken from a rate the provider advertised publicly, last checked September 2026. Several providers quote only after an address check, and rates move constantly — treat these as a guide and confirm the figure for your own address before you order.
