Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect when you use this site, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can control it.

Effective September 2026

This document is a working draft

It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and some company details are still placeholders. Do not rely on it as a final legal document. Site owner: complete the company block in config/legal.php and set complete => true to remove this notice.

1.Who this policy covers

This policy applies to this website and to the concierge service we operate by phone and email. It describes how we handle personal information about visitors, people who submit an enquiry, and people who order a service through us.

It does not cover the practices of the providers we compare. When you order a service from a provider, that company becomes an independent controller of the information you give them, under their own privacy policy. We encourage you to read it.

2.Information we collect

We collect three kinds of information.

  • Information you give us — the ZIP code or address you search, and, if you contact us, your name, email address, telephone number and the content of your message.
  • Information collected automatically — your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and similar technical data collected through cookies and comparable technologies.
  • Information from third parties — where a provider confirms an order you placed through us, or where a service vendor supplies aggregate analytics.

We do not ask for and do not want sensitive information: we have no need for your Social Security number, financial account details, health information, or government identifiers, and you should never send them to us.

3.How we use information

  • To show you which providers and plans are available at the location you searched.
  • To respond to an enquiry you sent us, and to follow up on an order you asked us to help with.
  • To operate, secure and improve the site, including diagnosing faults and preventing abuse.
  • To measure, in aggregate, which pages and features people find useful.
  • To meet legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

4.How we share information

We share personal information in a small number of defined situations, and never sell it to data brokers.

  • With a provider, when you ask us to place or assist with an order — limited to what that provider needs to fulfil it.
  • With service vendors who host the site, deliver email, or provide analytics on our behalf, under contracts that restrict them to our instructions.
  • Where required by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
  • With a successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy continuing to apply.

We do not sell your address, phone number or email address to third parties for their own marketing, and we do not cold-call people who have not asked to hear from us.

5.Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them to keep the site working — remembering your session and protecting forms against cross-site request forgery — and, where enabled, to understand in aggregate how the site is used.

You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be turned off without breaking core functionality such as form submission.

Some browsers send a Global Privacy Control signal. Where we are required to honour it, we treat it as a valid opt-out of sale or sharing for the browser that sends it.

6.Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information.

  • Access — to ask what we hold about you and obtain a copy.
  • Correction — to have inaccurate information corrected.
  • Deletion — to ask us to delete information we hold, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Opt out — of any sale or sharing of personal information, and of targeted advertising.
  • Non-discrimination — we will not give you a worse service for exercising a right.

To exercise a right, contact us using the details at the end of this policy. We will verify your identity before acting, usually by confirming details you have previously given us, and we will respond within the period the applicable law requires. An authorised agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission.

7.State privacy rights

Residents of California and of several other states have specific rights under their own privacy laws, including the rights listed above and the right to know the categories of personal information collected, the purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties it is disclosed to. Those categories are described in the sections above.

California residents also have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as those terms are defined by California law. We do not sell personal information for money. If any of our analytics or advertising activity constitutes "sharing" under that definition, you may opt out using the link in our footer or by contacting us.

8.How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires. Enquiry messages are retained so we can handle follow-up questions and resolve disputes, and are deleted when they are no longer needed. Aggregate analytics that cannot identify you may be kept indefinitely.

9.Security

We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold, including encryption in transit and restricted access to systems that store personal information.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires it.

10.Children's privacy

This site is intended for adults arranging services for a household. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11.Links to other sites

Our pages link to provider websites and to third-party resources. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and this policy does not apply once you leave our site.

12.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. If we make a material change, we will give prominent notice on the site before it takes effect.
