EarthLink

Fiber, DSL and fixed wireless · 18–5,000 Mbps

EarthLink sells internet nationally without owning last-mile infrastructure in most markets, renting capacity on other companies' fiber, copper and wireless networks and billing the customer itself. The catalogue spans fiber from 100 Mbps to 5 Gbps, DSL from 18 to 75 Mbps, and fixed wireless and 5G home service for addresses wired networks do not reach. Fiber and DSL plans include unlimited data. Pricing is not published openly — EarthLink quotes rates only after you enter an address.

EarthLink: common questions

Does EarthLink run its own network?

In most markets, no. EarthLink buys capacity on other providers' fiber, copper and wireless networks and sells service over them under its own name. What you actually receive at your address depends on whose network is underneath it.

Is there a contract?

EarthLink's fiber and DSL plans are sold on a twelve-month term. Its 5G home internet is described as month to month with no annual contract and no credit check, so the answer depends on which product your address qualifies for.

Is there a data cap?

Fiber and DSL plans include unlimited data with no throttling. The fixed wireless plans are different — several are sold with a fixed monthly allowance, and the work-from-home plan slows down after 300 GB in a month.

Why do the DSL plans all cost the same?

EarthLink lists its 18, 24, 45 and 75 Mbps DSL tiers at $64.95 a month each. Which one you are offered is set by the copper line serving your address, not by choice, so the price does not change with the speed.

Why can't I see prices on EarthLink's website?

EarthLink gates its rates behind an address check rather than publishing a rate card. The figures listed here come from third-party plan data and should be confirmed against the quote EarthLink gives for your specific address.

Will I get fiber at my address?

Only where EarthLink has a wholesale arrangement with a fiber network that reaches your street. Most addresses in its coverage area are offered DSL or a wireless product instead. The address check is the only way to know.

Strengths and trade-offs

What they do well

  • Available in places where the underlying network owner does not sell direct
  • Unlimited data on the fiber and DSL plans
  • A single fiber lineup running from 100 Mbps up to 5,000 Mbps
  • Fixed wireless and 5G options for addresses without a wired line
  • 5G home service is sold month to month with no credit check

Worth knowing

  • Fiber and DSL plans are sold on a twelve-month term rather than month to month
  • DSL plans cost $64.95 whether you get 18 Mbps or 75 Mbps
  • EarthLink does not publish prices on its own site — you must submit an address
  • The metered fixed wireless plans have hard monthly data allowances
  • Because EarthLink resells other networks, the same line may be cheaper direct from the network owner

About this data: Coverage and speed figures come from the FCC National Broadband Map, as of December 2025, where providers self-report. Advertised speeds are maximums, not guarantees, and availability differs address by address. The FCC publishes no pricing at all, so every price here was taken from a rate the provider advertised publicly, last checked September 2026. Several providers quote only after an address check, and rates move constantly — treat these as a guide and confirm the figure for your own address before you order.
