Kinetic by Windstream
Fiber and DSL · 50–2,000 Mbps
Kinetic is the residential brand Windstream sells under, concentrated in small-town and rural markets across the South, the Midwest and the mid-Atlantic. Fiber plans run from 100 Mbps to 2 Gbps and are backed by a price guarantee that lasts one to three years depending on the tier. Where fiber has not been built, Windstream still sells a DSL plan at up to 50 Mbps. No plan carries an annual contract.

Kinetic by Windstream: common questions
What is the difference between Kinetic and Windstream?
They are the same company. Windstream is the corporate name; Kinetic is the brand its residential internet is sold under. You may see either name on billing and support material.
How long does the advertised price last?
It varies by plan. Windstream guarantees the rate for one year on the 100 Mbps, 300 Mbps and 1 Gig plans, two years on Fiber 2 Gig, and three years on Fiber Max 2 Gig. The DSL plan is priced for one year.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No. Kinetic states that its plans come with no annual contract, so you can cancel without an early-termination fee. The price guarantee is separate from a contract — it fixes your rate but does not lock you in.
How much is the gateway?
The standard rate for the Kinetic Wi-Fi Gateway is $10.99 a month. The Fiber Max 2 Gig plan includes an eero Pro 7 gateway instead, so there is no separate equipment charge on that tier.
Will I get fiber or DSL?
That depends on your address. Windstream has been converting copper lines to fiber market by market, and much of its territory has not been reached yet. The fiber prices quoted here apply only in the markets where fiber has been built.
Is autopay required to get these prices?
Yes. Kinetic's advertised rates assume autopay enrollment, and the $5 monthly autopay credit can take up to two billing cycles to appear on the bill. Without it you will pay more than the advertised figure.

Strengths and trade-offs
What they do well
- Price guaranteed for one, two or three years depending on the plan
- No annual contract and no early-termination penalty
- Professional installation at no charge
- The Fiber Max 2 Gig plan includes an eero Pro 7 gateway rather than charging for it
- Fiber pricing starts at $19.99 a month in the markets that have it
Worth knowing
- Advertised prices require autopay enrollment
- The Kinetic Wi-Fi Gateway is $10.99 a month on plans that do not include it
- DSL addresses are capped at 50 Mbps and cost more than the 100 Mbps fiber plan
- Upload speeds are not published for any tier
- The fiber footprint is patchy — much of the territory is still copper

About this data: Coverage and speed figures come from the FCC National Broadband Map, as of December 2025, where providers self-report. Advertised speeds are maximums, not guarantees, and availability differs address by address. The FCC publishes no pricing at all, so every price here was taken from a rate the provider advertised publicly, last checked September 2026. Several providers quote only after an address check, and rates move constantly — treat these as a guide and confirm the figure for your own address before you order.
