GFiber: common questions
Can I get GFiber at my address?
Only in the metro areas GFiber has built into, and even there coverage runs street by street. Check the address on the GFiber site before comparing it against other providers, because in most of the country it is simply not an option.
Are GFiber upload speeds really the same as download?
Yes. The 1 Gig, 3 Gig and 8 Gig tiers are all quoted at the same figure in both directions. That matters for video calls, cloud backups and uploading large files, where cable services are usually far slower going out than coming in.
Does the price go up after the first year?
GFiber publishes a single monthly rate per tier rather than an introductory rate with an expiry date. There is no promotional period to track, though taxes and any add-ons are separate from the advertised figure.
Is there an equipment rental fee?
No. The router ships with the service, and the 3 Gig and 8 Gig tiers include mesh extenders as well. The 8 Gig tier also comes with a battery backup for the equipment.
Is there a data cap?
GFiber does not apply a monthly data allowance to its residential plans, so heavy streaming or large uploads will not trigger an overage charge.
