Frontier: common questions
Does Frontier make me sign a contract?
Frontier states that its fiber plans carry no annual contract. It does apply a prorated early-termination fee of up to $100 if you disconnect within the first twelve months, so leaving early is not entirely free.
Are Frontier's upload speeds really as fast as the downloads?
Yes, on fiber. Frontier quotes Fiber 500 at 500 Mbps both ways, Fiber 1 Gig at 1,000 Mbps both ways, and the same symmetry up through 7 Gig. Those are maximum wired figures — speed over Wi-Fi will be lower.
Is there a data cap?
No. Frontier does not meter usage on its fiber plans, so there is no allowance to exceed and no overage charge.
Do I pay extra for the router?
No separate rental fee is charged — an Amazon eero router comes with the plan. If you disconnect, Frontier charges a $50 restocking fee, and bills you for the hardware if it is not returned.
Will my price go up?
Not during the guarantee. Fiber 500 is held for four years and the gigabit tiers for five, provided you stay on Auto Pay and paperless billing. After the term the rate can move to Frontier's standard pricing.
How do I know if Frontier fiber reaches my home?
Frontier has built fiber over only part of the area it serves, and the boundary can fall mid-street. Enter your address on Frontier's site to see which tiers, if any, are sold at that location.
